    How To: Revirginize your iPhone (1.0.2)

    Filed under: iPhone ::

    If you are like me and jumped at running the anySIM 1.0.2 release only to find out that it caused corruption to the nvram (making it impossible to upgrade to 1.1.1) then relax, there is a fix. The boys over at the iphone-elite team have come out with a solution…

    The solution involves reflashing the baseband on your iPhone so that it is in a virgin 1.0.2 state. You will then be able to safely update to 1.1.1 and re-unlock with anySIM 1.1 which is safe to use. You can access the revirginization method by clicking here. This method still requires that you know how to SSH and SFTP in to the phone to upload the files and issue the commands but is otherwise surprisingly simple to do. I ran through the steps and it worked perfectly. I was able to safely upgrade to 1.1.1 and unlock using anySIM 1.1. If you are going to revirginize your iPhone by using these methods then be very careful to read all instructions in detail both before and during the procedure. If you are typing the commands in rather than cutting and pasting be very careful that the commands are typed EXACTLY as shown. Any commands issued on the iPhone are case sensitive, so make sure that you type in the correct case.

    Good luck.
